Tips For Renting A Vacation Home

bannerIf you are the kind of person who would much rather spend a holiday in a vacation home or villa instead of a hotel room, you need to know how to rent such a house. Here are some useful tips to guide you through the rental process and help you make the wisest and most affordable decision.

Whether you are planning on going to any place, you should definitely know a thing or two about certain rental aspects. For instance, you need to learn about the early booking options, signing a written agreement with the owner or even choosing a rental agency to do all the hard work for you.

If you have already chosen your travel destination, the next step is to plan your vacation wisely. In addition to finding a suitable vacation house, you should try to read up on the local customs of the place as well as the famous tourist attractions.

When it comes to reservations, most rental agencies recommend that you book the vacation house at least one year in advance. If you wait until the last minute, you might not be able to get the house that you want.

To make your stay more enjoyable, find out what amenities your vacation rental house offers. Remember that a good vacation house is one that will afford you privacy so check to see if the owners will be around.

You also need to ask for some references from people who rented that home in the past. Getting pictures of the house or even taking some virtual online tours of the house can be a huge aid.

After choosing the right holiday house, make sure you have a written agreement. Pay extra attention to the file print and discover any hidden costs or fees the owner might try to keep from you.You will also want to be close to dining and entertainment options. If you are the type of family that prefers to order-in while traveling, make sure there are a variety of delivery establishments nearby. If you prefer to dine out and enjoy the local cuisine, you will want to be relatively close to the best restaurants in town. The same is true for entertainment. Sometimes, if we return to the same destination several times, we just want to relax and there is no reason to seek out entertainment. However, it is a good idea to stay closest to the things you do enjoy. Kids love being close to miniature golf courses and amusement parks. Adults might enjoy easy access to movie theaters, live performances or nightclubs.

Finally, you could even ask for the help of some real estate experts to help you find the right vacation villa. After sealing the deal, nothing will stay in the way of your perfect vacation.

Why Should I Look For Family Vacation Packages to Hawaii

There is hardly anything more enticing than a relaxing and serene vacation spent in the beautiful islands of Hawaii. Your kids will benefit by being in a different culture, and they will definitely enjoy all the activities that Hawaii has to offer. The easiest way to accomplish this is with Hawaii family vacation packages as they are usually all-inclusive and more affordable than purchasing everything separately.

Another good reason to choose a Hawaii vacation package deal is because it alleviates some of the stress of the family arguing about what to do and when to do it. If you already got tickets to shows in your package deal and you already know where you are going to stay and what kind of car you are planning to rent, it cuts down on family bickering about such things. Another great reason to choose a package plan for your Hawaii trip is the affordability factor. Let’s face it, trips to the Hawaiian islands can be pretty costly! Packaging it all together with airfare, car rental, hotel, shows, and sometimes restaurant discounts and deals as well is much more cost effective and easier on your wallet. You will often find bed and breakfasts in these deals as well as resort activities too. Entertainment packages will definitely include shows which you can tailor to your individual family needs.

Planning ahead for your vacation in order to get the best package deal available is crucial. While you may still be able to find some deals at the last minute, the cheapest and best will be taken by the early birds.

Remember that Hawaii is more than just a single island. It consists of many islands, so you must plan where exactly in this vacation paradise that you would like to spend your time. Some of the popular vacation package destinations to visit are the “Big Island,” Oahu, Kauai, and Maui among others. Do some research before purchasing your trip because each island has its own unique geology and activities, so it will depend on what your family enjoys doing. Among the biggest attractions the island has to offer, the Polynesian Cultural Center draws tourists from around the world. The phenomenally landscaped 42-acre park includes eight distinct areas, each depicting the culture, traditions and customs of a different Polynesian island.

Among the center’s biggest attractions are the Rainbow of Paradise Canoe Pageant and the HA Breath of Life show. The Rainbow of Paradise Canoe Pageant is performed daily where the ornately decorated, historical canoes wind their way through the lagoon on the park’s property. Dancers, musicians, and singers perform aboard the canoes as they make their way through the lagoon.

Take a walking tour of the city’s historic district or venture out to explore the historic sites on your own in Honolulu. Visit the Hawaii State Capital; the first Christian Church built in Hawaii – Kawaiaha’o Church, the Old Federal Building, and the Mission Houses Museum. Be sure to spend some time in looking around the Iolani Palace as well. The only royal palace to be found in the United States, Iolani was the home of the last two ruling members of the Hawaiian royal family, King Kalakaua, and Queen Lili’uokalani.

Take the opportunity to visit the Waikiki Aquarium as well, located just across from Kapi’olani Park on Oahu’s Waikiki Beach. Adjacent to the living reef, the Aquarium focuses its research, exhibits, and programs on the aquatic life of the Pacific and the Hawaiian Islands.

Frugal Travel Tips For Oahu

Oahu, home to Waikiki and Honolulu, is the most populated of all the Hawaiian Islands. It is also the island that most travelers visit. Here are some helpful tips for traveling to Oahu:

Diamond Head

When travelers pick up a postcard to send home from Oahu, it most likely features the volcanic cone called Diamond Head. Close to Waikiki, the rim of the Diamond Head crater is a short hike from the entrance.

The walk in fee for Diamond Head is a frugal $1 per person and the views of Waikiki and the ocean are priceless.

The bus in Oahu is easy and inexpensive ($2 per person) to use and is perhaps the best way to explore the island. We did a circle around the island (having to change buses and since we stopped off, paying additional fares). If luggage is limited, travelers can get from the airport to Waikiki by bus.

9955f6add0ea419c64d55f9a36f46f65Another option for transportation is the free Hilo Hattie shuttle. Offered by this large, local merchant, the free trolley will take travelers from most hotels in Waikiki to their factory store on Nimitz Highway. When done shopping there, the trolley will drop you back to popular shopping destinations such as the Ala Moana Shopping Center or back to your hotel.

If you do decide to rent a car in Oahu, remember that most hotels do not include parking. This extra charge could be quite costly.

Oahu offers some inexpensive and unique dining options.

Frugal travelers can use the breakfast coupons in tourist magazines and newspapers to provide them a cheap alternative to hotel offerings.

A must eat in Hawaii is the plate lunch. This is the lunch of choice for locals and travelers can enjoy those local prices. What is a plate lunch? It includes an entrée, two scoops of rice and a scoop of macaroni salad on the side.

For supper? Consider Asian offerings. Close to that continent, the influence is certainly felt in Oahu. The best pho I’ve ever had was in downtown Honolulu.

Free Shows

Every night near the beach in Waikiki, there are free shows including musicians and often hula dancers. On certain days, there are movies (called Sunset On The Beach). Many of the shopping centers also offer free shows.

Remember that all beaches in Hawaii are public and free to use.

Oahu offers many deals for the frugal traveler from transportation and shows to meals.

Visit the International Market Place

For a bargain hunter like me, International Market Place is a must see. There are a lot of stores here selling various items, such as pieces of jewelry, swimwears, home decors, ornaments, etc, basically, everything that you can imagine. Just bring out your bargaining skills and you won’t go empty-handed. Also, there are several food establishments around, from Chinese food to hamburgers, all under affordable prices. You can bring home souvenirs or buy something for yourself like a cute beach towel or a gorgeous set of pearl jewelry
